Dar Tassa Retreat

Health & Wellness Disclaimer

The holistic practices at Dar Tassa — including breathwork, energetic healing and shadow work — are designed for personal growth and do not substitute for professional medical or psychiatric care. Participation is strictly at your own risk, and we advise consulting a physician before beginning any deep physical or emotional practice. Please listen to your body and honour your limits during sessions. If you are experiencing a severe mental health crisis, please seek licensed clinical support.

Purpose of our holistic sessions

The holistic practices offered at Dar Tassa — breathwork, Reiki, the Bowen technique, sound baths, yoga and shadow work — are offered as experiences of rest, self-enquiry and personal growth. They are complementary practices. They are not medical, psychological or psychiatric treatment, they do not diagnose any condition, and they are not a substitute for care given by a licensed health professional.

Nothing said during a session, written on this website or printed in our brochures should be understood as medical advice, a prescription, or a promise of a particular outcome. Please never stop or change a prescribed treatment because of something experienced or heard during a session.

Medical clearance before you book

We ask you to consult your doctor before taking part in any deep physical, breath-based or emotionally intensive practice. This matters especially if you are pregnant, or if you live with heart or blood-pressure conditions, epilepsy or seizures, asthma or other respiratory conditions, glaucoma or retinal detachment, an aneurysm, recent surgery or injury, osteoporosis, a bleeding disorder, diabetes, a serious psychiatric diagnosis, or if you are taking medication that affects your heart, breathing or mood.

Please tell us about any relevant condition, injury, allergy or medication when you enquire, so we can adapt the session or advise you honestly if it isn't the right practice for you at this time.

Your participation and your limits

Participation is voluntary and entirely at your own risk. You remain responsible for your own body and wellbeing throughout. Please listen to your body, honour your limits, take a slower version of any movement or breath, rest whenever you wish, and stop or step out of the room at any moment — no explanation is needed and no one will mind.

Breathwork, sound and shadow work can bring up strong physical sensations (tingling, dizziness, muscular tension) and strong feelings (grief, anger, joy, tearfulness). This is common and usually passes. If it becomes overwhelming, pause and tell your facilitator.

Please do not take part under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs. Guests under 18 need a parent or guardian's consent and presence.

Mental health support

Our facilitators are not licensed clinicians and cannot provide crisis care. If you are experiencing an acute mental health crisis, thoughts of harming yourself or others, active psychosis, or you are in early recovery from severe trauma or addiction, please seek licensed clinical support, and speak with your treating professional before joining a session.

In an emergency in Morocco, call 15 (ambulance) or 19 (police). Elsewhere, please use your local emergency number.

Walks, mountain activities and the kitchen

Guided walks take place on mountain paths at around 1,300 m, on uneven ground and in changing weather. Please choose a walk that matches your fitness, wear suitable shoes, carry water, and follow your guide's instructions at all times.

In cooking workshops and around the wood-fired oven there is heat, fire and sharp equipment. Please tell us about food allergies and dietary needs in advance; we cook in a small mountain kitchen and cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

Insurance and liability

We recommend that every guest holds valid travel and medical insurance covering mountain activities. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dar Tassa, its owners, staff and facilitators accept no liability for injury, illness, loss or damage arising from voluntary participation in our activities, except where caused by our own negligence.

This disclaimer may be updated from time to time; the version published here is the one that applies. If anything here is unclear, please ask us before you book — we would much rather talk it through.
